About this Plean Scoile
This is the whole-school plan (Plean Scoile) of Creagh National School. Under Section 21 of the Education Act 1998, the Board of Management prepares, makes available and regularly reviews a school plan. This page gathers the school's organisational and statutory policies and its curricular plans, sets out who we are and how the school is staffed and governed, and links to every policy and plan document.
Each policy is reviewed on its own cycle, with review dates staggered to 2031 so the workload is spread; the Child Safeguarding and Bí Cineálta policies are reviewed every year. Policies that the school is legally required to hold are marked ★ Mandatory.

Parental Complaints Procedure
Creagh NS works in partnership with parents and welcomes the opportunity to resolve any concern at the earliest stage. The school follows the agreed CPSMA/INTO Complaints Procedure (Education Act 1998, s.28; DE Circular 0059/2020). Most concerns are resolved informally with the class teacher or Principal. The full procedure is set out in the Complaints Procedure (Policy No. 18).
| Stage | What happens | Timeframe |
|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 — Informal | The parent/guardian raises the matter with the class teacher; if unresolved, with the Principal; and if still unresolved, with the Chairperson of the Board of Management. | As early as possible |
| Stage 2 — In writing to the Chairperson | The parent/guardian lodges the complaint in writing with the Chairperson, who brings its precise nature to the teacher and seeks a resolution. | Within 5 school days |
| Stage 3 — Meeting | If not resolved informally, the Chairperson gives the teacher a copy of the written complaint and arranges a meeting with the teacher and, where applicable, the Principal. | Within 10 school days |
| Stage 4 — Formal report to the Board | The Chairperson makes a formal report to the Board. The teacher is informed, supplied with any written evidence, and invited to respond in writing and to present to the Board (accompanied by a friend); the Board may also meet the complainant. | Within 10 school days |
| Stage 5 — Board decision | The Chairperson conveys the Board's decision in writing to both the teacher and the complainant. The decision of the Board is final. | Within 5 school days |
Complaints relating to matters other than a teacher are made to the Principal or Chairperson. This procedure is read alongside any updated parental-complaints process published by the Department of Education, and complainants retain the right to raise certain matters with the Ombudsman for Children.
